WHO IS TIMBIKES?

Welcome to Tim Bikes, your bicycle tour operator based in Madrid. Since 2019, we have been dedicated to providing visitors from around the world with a fun and relaxed way to explore Madrid by bike.

Tim Bikes was founded by Michel van de Gevel, a Dutch native with a strong connection to cycling. After several years of guiding bicycle tours in Madrid, Michel decided to establish Tim Bikes to share his passion for the city and its history.

We pride ourselves on creating a pleasant and informal atmosphere, thinking in terms of possibilities and solutions to ensure every guest has an exceptional experience. Quality is paramount to us, not only in the bikes we provide but also in the way we conduct our tours. Our guides are thoroughly trained, with a deep knowledge of history, engaging anecdotes, and fascinating local facts.

Coming from the Netherlands, my wife Sonia and I have been living in the beautiful and welcoming city of Madrid since 2019. Every day, I appreciate the beauty and vibrancy of this Spanish city.What I love about Madrid is how relaxed everyone is, despite it being such a large city. The openness and friendliness of the people made me feel at home very quickly.I’m particularly fond of the varied cuisine, especially the tapas. There’s nothing better than enjoying delicious food and drinks on one of the many terraces under the Spanish sun. Learning Spanish has been a challenge, but I’m getting better at it every day.Madrid itself is wonderful, but the nearby Sierra de Guadarrama is also fantastic. It’s perfect for a weekend getaway to Segovia, El Escorial, or any of the charming villages or mountains in the area.

I've traveled to many countries, both backpacking and as a cyclotourist, and I'm a dedicated urban cyclist. I'm also very active in advocating for a more bike-friendly Madrid.I was born here in Madrid, and even though I've lived all over Europe, I always come back to my hometown because it’s one of the best cities to live in. I love showing off Madrid and sharing its vibrant life with friends and visitors. For the past few months, I've been doing just that as a guide. Can’t wait to share the city with you!
